CZ warns users of hacked accounts promoting tokens and says YZi Labs staff who promote coins will be ‘fired immediately.’

In a recent post, Changpeng Zhao shared a screenshot of an account belonging to a trader who was a Binance supporter. He suspected the account had gotten hacked because it was promoting meme coins to followers.

“This account probably got just hacked. It suddenly started to reach out to people to promote new meme coins. And the profile changed,” said the former Binance CEO in his recent post.

The account’s handle is artists_voyager and the description states that they are a social media manager and content writer for web3 companies. They also claimed to do marketing for Binance Labs.

CZ explained the account owner does not work for Binance or YZi Labs. However, a lot of people from the Binance community follow the account because the owner is a “long-time supporter of BNB (BNB).”

Additionally, CZ issued a warning to YZi Labs employees, stating they are not allowed to promote any type of cryptocurrency coins privately nor publicly. If they are caught promoting coins, they will be “fired immediately upon discovery.”

CZ’s warning comes only a day after Solana (SOL) meme launchpad Pump.fun’s official X account was hacked and used to promote scam meme coins. The hackers used the account to share posts urging followers to purchase a fake Pump.fun governance token. At press time, Pump.fun has fully regained control of its X account.

Earlier this month, the official Dior Instagram account experienced a similar hack when it uploaded a post promoting a Solana-based meme coin dubbed the Dior Official Coin. The post disappeared not long after the account was recovered, however the fake token had already gained a trading volume of over $1 million.

In a separate post, CZ responded to a user saying how so many accounts have been hacked in these couple of days. He said that X accounts are not that secure, but he jokingly said that they might improve their account security overtime once they “launch a wallet.”
